I saw him as I was leaving the Naka Meguro subway station. He has exactly the sort of style that made Naka Meguro the most laidback-cool place I saw of all three cities. It’s a quiet neighborhood not far from Shibuya built along a canal with a bunch of beautiful shops and restaurants. It’s where I’d want to live if I lived in Tokyo.
Mention “street style” to someone, and what often springs to mind are images of the outlandish fashions associated with Tokyo youth: Teens dressed up as their favorite anime characters, weekend Goths and subversive schoolgirls.
